What is a Partial Hospitalization Program?
A Partial Hospitalization Program (PHP) is an intensive outpatient level of care. You attend several hours of therapy and structured support during the day, without being admitted overnight, and return home each evening.
PHP bridges the gap between inpatient care and standard outpatient therapy. It fits people who need more support than weekly counseling or an intensive outpatient program can provide.
Who PHP can help
PHP may be right for you if you:
- Need intensive daily support, but not 24-hour supervision
- Need more care than a regular therapist or outpatient program provides
- Are stepping down from inpatient or residential treatment into daily life
Our PHP focuses on substance use disorders and the mental health conditions that often come with them, such as anxiety, depression, and trauma.
What PHP includes
- Individual therapy: one-on-one counseling built around your goals
- Group therapy: shared sessions that build support and accountability
- Skills training: practical tools for coping, managing stress, and daily functioning
- Education: sessions that help you understand substance use and mental health
- Family support: guidance and involvement for the people closest to you
- Care coordination: case management, plus referrals for medical or psychiatric care when you need them
- Relapse prevention and aftercare planning: a plan to protect your progress after PHP
Why choose PHP at Helping Hearts Recovery
- Structured, comprehensive care in one setting, without an overnight stay
- Life at home: return to your family and routines each evening
- Often more affordable than inpatient care, while still offering a high level of support
Telehealth options
When attending in person is not possible, some care may be available by telehealth. Ask about telehealth during your free consultation.
